A good yield

The result of a few weeks...

It's been some time since I posted an update, I've fallen back into the old habit of painting many miniatures at once. Today, I varnished 34 Gloranthan miniatures for our Runequest games: roughly from left to right you can see...

3 nice barbarians, forgot where from

4 Talastaring hoplites in the colours of Daerius

A lunar priestess in the process of hosting a cult spirit

4 Dara Happan guards ( babylonians) to go with the L & L Dara Happan Captain

Fazzur Wideread (L & L) and the Imperial guard (Mad Knight)

Harem girls, bard, tavern wench, barman from Hasslefree

Name escapes me wise guy from L&L

8 big trolls from Madknight

All in all some wonderful stuff, I might fancy them up a bit more, but for now they're ready and well varnished!

Trollkins and Trolls

The trollkin pack

I intended to no longer paint big batches of miniatures, but I started on a big bunch of Trollkin nonetheless, so I'll post an occasional update. First thing was the skin tone foundation and a light brush for some depth.

And the trolls. It's like a forum!

The trolls have been getting some much needed attention as well, here they are, skin tones done, metal done, and ready for a pass of leather.
All these mini's are from Mad Knight Casting, specialized in fine Gloranthan miniatures for skirmish and RPG.

The sound of industry

Left to right, trollkin, dara happans and imperials, trolls and broos, and some already painted trolls and adventurers

Slowly but surely I am getting back into the habit of spending a few hours working in the hobby room every week. I finished repairing the last batch, and giving them a good protective coating. I managed to start the new classification system in the rpg room, so I can find specific NPC's more easily. And I just finished whitewashing a bunch of miniatures, including trolls, trollkin, lunars, and a few broos. That way I can have my 30 minutes of painting every day, just pick up where I left off the day before, and slap on some paint.
Here they are in all their glory. The Mad Knight Imperials in particular look great, and I look forward to painting them a lot! Probably gonna be finished first, after the painted ones are ready, of course. With the Glorantha miniature kickstarter's lots of new miniatures coming up, I need to make some room before the end of the year!

Trolls on a roll

Here are some specific Glorantha miniatures to be used with RuneQuest.  In a first time, the first three pictures will serve as a Troll trader, Gunt Leadfinger, a traveling merchant working in the Prax region, and his two very impressive bodyguards, current name Ben & Jerry.  These two specimens are the biggest, meanest great troll around, they have excellent equipment, and the vouch for the safety of Master Leadfinger.

Purple skinned, this fellow will not pas through any normal human size door, which is why Gunt handles all business outside.

Armor made out of scarab carapace, immaculately clothed, and bloodthirsty when not sleeping.

Gunt Leadfinger, Troll Merchant Extraordinaire.

A normal great troll.

Dark troll skeletons!

Here are the dark troll skeletons I painted this week:  painting these is a breeze, 80% drybrushing, and I finished all four in about 2 hours.  And they look fine for the game table...

The miniatures based and assembled!

After having worked through most of my remaining Lance And Laser RQ stuff, I have finished cleaning, assembling and basing most of my remaining Mad Knight miniatures. As soon as I have the room and time I'll spray the basecoat on, and I can start painting the miniatures.

The large left part - on the paper - is a lot of trolls and big broo, as well as four great troll skeletons. The right row, top to bottom: Red Mask assassins (6), imperial bodyguard (6) and little broo (6), with two female Humakti and a Humakti Cross on the right edge of the picture!

New RuneQuest Miniatures

I've been quite busy during the last few weeks, we have been playing the overture of our RQ6 Pavis campaign, but I also found the time to paint or finish quite a few miniatures:

Mad Knight: Cannibal Victim, Witch and Harvesting Young Girl

Mad Knight: 2 Priests and a Witch

Mad Knight: Victim Scene but now with blood drinking chief

Mad Knight: Three Youngsters

Don't remember where from, but funny kids

Hasslefree: Kids with dog menacing old lady

RuneQuest 6 scenario 1

Herculon and Daerius charge forward, while Jaya prepares her bow and Giomanach starts casting Palsy

We had the last session of our first scenario yesterday. In it the party ran into what was left of a party of ogres masquerading as Etyries traders. Since the encounter took place in the chaparral, far away from civilisation, and since the party was coming from the direction of the ogre lair they cleaned out just before, both sides realised on sight that there would be no pretending. The adventurers charged on sight, leaving the ogre animist little opportunity to prepare, and only one managed to summon its ancestor spirit in time.

They then returned to Pavis to check out the shop the ogres were running, and had what one could call 'a good day' with lots of goods they could sell, plus they got a four wheeled wagon out of the deal. Time for some well deserved R&R and training now...

Miniatures are Amazon (cart), Mad Knight (cannibals), and a mix with some L&L in the distance.

New chaos Creatures announced on Mad Knight!

While checking out the Madknight site this morning I noticed how a new chapter called Scorpion Men had appeared in the shop, and several new products are visible, including a Queen Bagogix, Old Thumper, Tentaclus and Quackchitter. These new wonders are supposed to become available by the beginning of September, Andrew posted on fb that the shop will be closed until then. Looking forward to these new goodies a lot!

Ben the great troll

Ben the great troll.  You should see his brother Jerry!

Here's one of the miniatures I have received from Madknight Casting last week.  I have a lot of stuff still on my work table that I'm gonna finish first, but I just wanted to show the impressive quality of the miniature.  Plus, finding a real Glorantha troll is not so easy, I'm very glad the choice got so much bigger!

For comparison I put a Reaper assassin next to our friend Ben.
