Some new miniatures for RQ

Adventurers or enemies?

Nice new miniatures I finished in the last few days.  Some will serve as adventurers, others will serve other purposes.  These are Reaper mainly, could be a few other brands though.  The giant has been lying around for over a year now, I forgot where I got it from.

This giant has an anger issue, but so far no-one mentioned it to him

Custom PC miniatures

My players like playing with miniatures: they need to have visual clues when roleplaying, and most of them also play miniature games like Warhammer and Malifaux.  They like to have miniatures fitting their character, and preferably both a mounted and unmounted version.  Now there are some manufacturers that offer a few of those, but nowhere near a full range.  It's even harder if you're not playing traditional medieval.  So often the only resource is modding.

One of my players' characters is a Riverfolk Noble, so we were looking for a mix between a gypsy, a mongol and a saracen, something along those lines :)  We found a Reaper rider that more or less looked the part, be it a bit modest, and a Reaper foot figure with a cape and scimitar, although he wore armor and a helmet, which he didn't want.

Decapitated the foot figure, prepared a head, and repositioned the lance arm on the rider

So I took out the ole Dremel and my huge set of mini-lathes and drills, as well as a big blob of grey stuff, and I adapted the miniatures as requested.  Talk about spoiled players :)

Added the head to the footie, sculpted the scarf and headband, and sculpted the shoulder pads on the rider.  On the right the sword which teh rider will have holstered behind his saddle.

Ben the great troll

Ben the great troll.  You should see his brother Jerry!

Here's one of the miniatures I have received from Madknight Casting last week.  I have a lot of stuff still on my work table that I'm gonna finish first, but I just wanted to show the impressive quality of the miniature.  Plus, finding a real Glorantha troll is not so easy, I'm very glad the choice got so much bigger!

For comparison I put a Reaper assassin next to our friend Ben.

Finished some RuneQuest miniatures

The holidays have started, and I since we are not going abroad I am having a lot of free time that I can spend on clearing some of the waiting projects on my workbench.  Today I finished a part of the Lance and Laser (mainly) miniatures I have been painting for RuneQuest.  One thing I learned is that painting several miniatures at once is a good thing, but doing batches of 50 numbs the brain.  I finally got through these, and I can now start on the other 90 or so I have still lined up for RQ.  But I'll be doing those in smaller batches, 8 to 10 at most, in order not to make it a drag.

Here's a healthy grizzly that's about to be disturbed by a non-suspecting party member.

Two dragonewt demibird riders on patrol.

A dragonewt patrol with some beaked and some crested dragonewts.

An Orlanth Rune Priest casting a spell.  It looks like lightning :-)

Babeester Gor Maider taking issue.  Blood is going to flow.

This is a Reaper miniature of Fhafrd, but I think he will do sterling service as the personal bodyguard of Kangharl.

Foxy Broo

Dit is een Broo die je niet dikwijls te zien zal krijgen:  Een vossebroo.
Here is a rare sight: a fox-broo.  Or a Broo-Fox. Reaper model

Broo

Deze Broo is van Reaper, een beetje exotisch, maar aangezien Broo alles kunnen bevruchten, kan het nog wel gekker.
This is a reaper Broo.  The stag is a bit exotic, but Broo can fertilize anything, so we're likely to see some more exotic abominations.
