Ready for Salute!

Just so I don't go on a manic shopping spree and buy all kind of stuff I still have lying around at home waiting to be painted, I have based and prepped (about) all of my Runequest miniatures still residing on the lead mountain.  Whenever I feel the urge to start buying more Babylonians, Romans, Athenians, Celts, Britons or Picts, I just take a look at this picture


I haven't started on the hundred or so orcs and goblins I still have waiting, nor the big giant, the trolls and other stuff, but I'm not gonna be buying any of those, I swear.

On the shopping list:

Pendraken preorder of WW2 US, British and German for D-DAY
KR preorder of a nice 10 mm vehicle case
Hasslefree preorder of SciFi Grimm

And looking for:
10 mm terrain, especially a few bridges, and some nice ruins
Some CoC bargains at the bring and buy if I'm lucky
CoC miniatures in 10 mm, although that would mean I'll have to sculpt things like the old ones myself...
Other cool SciFi stuff, maybe even a bit of terrain
Small chance, but I really really need the HQ baboons from Armorcast
Lots of ideas to make my gaming tables neater, cooler and amazing-er

The workbench

Not a lot of updates lately, and funnily enough that's not because I haven't been busy, quite the contrary.  Between visits to the game club, DIY sessions in the new Club House, I managed to continue the painting of a lot of Lance and Laser Glorantha Miniatures, as well as finally base some of the cheapo minis I got at Crisis 2009.  Here's a gang of skeletons, as well as some BTD Babylonians that'll become Dara Happans and some Greeks, both mounted and on foot, about to become Lunar troops and Yelmalio lords.

Started working in the new HQ club house

It has been some time since the last upgrade, partially because I am working hard on my WW2 game to be presented at Crisis 2011, but also because I recently joined the HQ wargame club in Sint Niklaas.
They are open for business Friday and Saturday, and I have been playing several fun games there in the weeks since I joined, which I am trying to list here:
Roll through the ages (a civilization version of Yahtzee)

Bang (Western card game)

Dominant Species (Darwin revisited)

Big City (You could call it a boardgame of the Sim City computer game)

Pandemic (Coop game where you can save the earth or let it perish)

Our wargame club - I am an official member since last Friday - is moving to new premises sometimes soon, and this new place needs some serious work.  Here's our webmaster Bram hard at work putting up electricity for the bar area.  The bar itself is gonna be 5 meters long!

My modified APC

Here is the first stage of the painted APC for my Shocktroopers army.  I still need to put up some scifi decals and do the weathering and varnishing, but the idea is there already.

Prize won at Nikfest arrived

I got me this nice Russian APC from Shaun from Sands Models.  It is gonna be modified in order to serve as a support vehicle for the shock troopers.  The commander is already taking a look at the new toy!

Scratch built pulp cabin

Ik heb vandaag twee plastic bekerkes gekregen, en heb er een hutje of een kapel voor onze scifi games mee gemaakt.
Using two plastic snack cups and some leftovers and plastic bits I made this little cabin for our scifi games.   It can serve as a chapel or a house.

Ik ben begonnen met het opkleven van de potjes, een deksel, en een dak en reling en deur die ik heb opgepikt in de Verschooten in de koopjesbak.

Hier staan de hoofdkleuren er al op.  Nu nog het fijne werk en het is klaar.
After the base colours were painted on.  Tomorrow it's getting finished.

For those of you that possess Wargames Factory Shocktroopers or Spriggan Spugs, here are the hand-drawings and weapon rules for them.  IF you would like the hand drawn weapons original without the text, for your own version, drop me a line.

Spug attack on the trooper fort

Vandaag heb ik nog een gameke Flying Lead gedaan met Domi.  Hij verdedigde het fort met de Shock Troopers, en ik mocht aanvallen met de Spugs. Hij had drie snipers, maar maakte er niet echt goed gebruik van, en verzuimde ze op overwatch te zetten, waardoor ik ongehinderd met mijn exo spug tot op korte afstand van het fort kon naderen.  Daar zorgden de dubbele rail-guns voor een ware ravage.

Today we had a little game of Flying Lead, with the new unit lists we made for the Spugs and the Shock Troopers.  Domi was defending the fort, and I attacked with the Spugs.  Although he had three snipers, Domi made almost no use of overwatch, and in spite of some bad initiative, I still managed to win the game in a few turns: once my exo spug was in position, the fort defense became untenable.

Gisteren heeft Dani kennis gemaakt met Flying Lead.  Ik speelde de rol van scheids en de jongens hadden een mooi gevechtje tussen de Spugs en de Troopers op onze grote tafel.  Dani speelde met de Spugs, Domi kreeg de Troopers en moest het fort verdedigen, en voorkomen dat Dani 2 beurten naast de victory spot kon komen parkeren.  Dani kon regens krijgen, maar koos toch voor de vliegende spugs.

Yesterday we introduced our nephew Dani to Flying Lead, I did my umpire thing and let the guys have a good fight across our 5 by 5 foot game table.  Domi took the Troopers, and Dani got the Spugs.  The spugs were attacking, they had to get a figure within 2 lengths of the victory spot during 2 consecutive turns.

The spugs had the option of getting mook troops, that would regenerate near one of the two hatch pods in the rear, but Dani preferred a flyer.

Dani nam veel risico, alles om snel te kunnen ontplooien, en het plan werkte: zijn knokrobot was in luttele minuten aan het fort en richtte daar een ravage aan.

Dani took a lot of risks, in order to deploy fast, and the plan succeeded.  He deployed his combat drone to the front in only three turns, taking the Trooper defense by surprise and causing a lot of havoc.

Things are still looking good inside the fort.  This is about to change.
